09/06/2011 – THE NUMBER 33

The Number 33…

Depending on your background, interests, or family history, thirty-three can have many different meanings or forms of symbolism. A sports fanatic may immediately recognize 33 as being the number on the jersey worn by NBA Hall of Fame players, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Larry Bird, Scottie Pippen, or Patrick Ewing along with a host of other players.  A mathematician may find the number 33 intriguing because the sum of the first 4 positive factorials is equal to 33. A chemist could tell you the element with atomic number 33 is Arsenic. Christianity is infatuated with the number 33 as it is believed Jesus performed 33 miracles during his lifetime, King David (Bible) reigned in Jerusalem for 33 years, and the numerical equivalent of the word AMEN using the English alphabet is 33 (1+13+5+14). 33 is a very important number in Freemasonry in that it represents the highest degree a Freemason can achieve. 33 million turkeys are consumed in Great Britain each year. Lastly, Groundhog Day occurs on February 2, the 33rd day of the year.  

So…you might be asking right now, “What’s the point, Smugs?”

The number 33 is relevant to this blog because on Wednesday 09/07/2011, Smugs3 member, Ryan H. will be turning 33 years old. Today’s workout is a celebration of Ryan’s birthday. We’re glad you were born, Ryan!

TUESDAY WORKOUT

Warmup: Run/Jump Rope for 2-3 minutes. Perform dynamic stretches followed by a 2 minute static squat hold.

Workout: “33”

Complete the following as quickly as possible (20 minute time limit):

33 Rope Skips (or Double Unders)

33 Kettlebell Swings

33 Pushups

33 Rope Skips (or Double Unders)

33 Sumo Deadlift High Pulls

33 Situps

33 Rope Skips (or Double Unders)

33 Goblet Squats

33 Burpees

When finished, complete as many rounds as possible of 33 second plank hold and 33 supermans.

    It took me more than 33 min. to recover from that workout.  I plan on soaking in the tub tonight for 33 min.
